Don Rassiger
Strike Out Cancer (SOC) is a 501c3 nonprofit founded in 2000 to provide patient aid to individuals living with cancer and their families.
We started SOC after our inspiration, Don Rassiger, was diagnosed with cancer. Through his experience, we saw the financial and emotional strains that treatment have on a patient and their family. Determined to be of service to others fighting this disease, Don, his family and friends put their energy into raising money to fund patient aid for those in need of a helping hand when they are most vulnerable. We have raised money primarily through events at baseball games, one of Don’s passions.
The impact of a cancer diagnosis is far reaching and frequently comes with financial and emotional burdens. No one should fight cancer without support and no one should ever have to choose between care and living expenses.
Strike Out Cancer bridges these gaps by providing critical patient aid that helps to remove the obstacles to receive care such as transportation to treatment or medication not covered by insurance. We also support small moments of joy such as tickets to a ballgame or dinner out with friends. Since its inception, SOC has served hundreds of people fighting cancer and their families.
Strike Out Cancer partners with dedicated doctors and medical professionals in Greater Boston to identify patients and families in need of patient aid support. These partners know their patient’s stories, their struggles and where support is needed.
We believe strongly that caring for patients is not just about medicine, it’s about compassion and the support network behind each cancer patient.
